2021: The ray of hope for International students

After a glooming and challenging year that 2020 was, a survey has revealed that international education agents are positive for this year. The survey is based upon the inputs from around 775 agents involved in online and offline international students’ recruitment from over 19 countries. They have reflected optimism for the year 2021 due to several factors. Similarly, study abroad consultants are expecting increased engagement of students for overseas education in the year 2021.

The most significant factor responsible for the agents’ positive outlook is the availability of COVID-19 vaccines, which will lead to eased travel restrictions. 35% resorted to entirely online recruiting methods among the survey participants, whereas 65% adopted a hybrid strategy and in-person counseling to gain the students’ confidence in 2020.

During the pandemic, e-mails were the most popular medium to approach students, followed by phone calls and social media promotions. The webinars conducted by institutions also helped to promote a country and the colleges among the students. However, the limited or absence of online marketing material provided by the institutions was the major challenge.

The successful recruitment of the students through online mode has motivated the agents as well as the students. Therefore, 2021 can be considered an optimistic year for students’ international mobility to study at their dream destinations. The only factor that is troubling the agents is that the travel restrictions may discourage the students from choosing international education.

Considering several factors, the year 2021 may increase international students’ number as they can travel across nations. With vaccines being available and the situation may restore, the students will be encouraged to proceed with their overseas education plans.
