More Canada Institutes allowed inviting foreign students

Canada released an important update for the international students looking forward to studying in Canada in the coming year. Earlier, Canada had released a list of the Designated Learning Institutes (DLIs) to welcome international students to the campus. These Universities are proficient with necessary measures to prevent any infection. Recently, they revised the list to add more names of the Universities that have the permission to host international students during the pandemic.

As Canada imposed the travel restrictions, there was a strict restriction on international students from entering Canada and advised them to take up the online courses. Now, when the country has started to get back on its feet, and the pandemic becomes the new normal, institutes have worked with the government agencies to make them COVID prepared so that students do not suffer from their education. With the easing of travel restrictions, students learning in these DLIs are getting exempted from the travel restrictions, and they can pursue their studies in Canada.

To be on the list, the Universities must have the preparedness as per the plan approved by the territorial or provincial government. They need to demonstrate the authorities’ capability, and only after the government is convinced, they will receive permission. The big names added in this revised list are the University of Waterloo, Ryerson University, OCAD University and the University of Windsor, and other Ontario-based prominent institutions.

DLI status gives the institutes in Canada the authority to enroll international students. The students from abroad are permitted to study in Canada’s learning institutes that qualify as a DLI. Students registered with the permitted DLIs can enter at the entry port by the border officials.

However, there is a mandatory 14-day quarantine provision for these international students. This provision means that upon their arrival in Canada, they must stay in quarantine for 14 days. If they fail to meet the compliance, they need to pay hefty fines. The students have to manage their quarantine plan and will be required to show it to the border officials. This plan should have accommodation and contact details as well as arrangements for daily essentials. They are also required to install the ArriveCAN mobile application.
